Nommer splits any recipe into a plan for two cooks
Nommer
Cooking one meal with someone turns into a scramble. Same pan, someone idle, half of it cold by the time you sit down. Nommer is a free app that turns any recipe into a plan for two cooks.
One recipe, split into two cooks' checklists
One recipe, split into two cooks’ checklists.
A normal recipe is written for one cook: one long list, top to bottom. Nommer takes that recipe and hands each of you your own set of steps, on your own phone.
From one list you crowd to two lists you run in parallel
From one list you crowd, to two lists you run in parallel.
Picture the two of you crowded around one phone, both on the same step. Nommer splits the recipe into two lists you run side by side, so you work in parallel. Nommer works for any two people in one kitchen: a couple, roommates, a parent and a kid.
It rebuilds one recipe into two timed, synced lanes
It rebuilds one recipe into two timed, synced lanes.
Here’s the real work Nommer does. Nommer reads the recipe into separate steps, then splits them between the two of you by job. One cook gets the make-ahead parts, the things that can sit and wait. The other gets the parts that come straight off the stove, hot. Then Nommer lines up both lists so the parts that cook in parallel are timed to land together. While you cook, the two phones stay in sync: tick a step, and your partner’s phone updates. And Nommer calls out the handoffs, with spoken prompts like pass the shallots, or the pan’s ready for you, right when they matter.

Nommer works solo too, with a clean single-view plan. And it builds your shopping and equipment lists for you. Splitting one recipe across two synced cooks is new: the big recipe apps still hand you one long list. It’s brand new, though, with no track record yet. And two-cook mode needs both of you, each on your own phone.

Nommer is free to download, on iPhone and Android, and it just launched today. There’s an optional paid upgrade. It’s made by the team at Garm Tech, a small studio in Amsterdam. To try it, snap a photo of a cookbook page, paste a link, or drop in text.
Two cooks, one meal, each with their own timed part
Nommer
So the next time two of you cook one meal, Nommer hands each of you your own timed part, and you skip the scramble.
