Artifacts

A page your agent publishes at a link that never changes; people comment, the agent revises.

A page your agent publishes at a link that never changes. People comment on it, and your agent answers and updates the page at the same link.

An Artifact is the thing your agent hands back when the answer is a page rather than a message: a plan, a report, a dashboard, a form. It lives at one URL. When the agent updates it, the URL stays the same and the earlier versions stay in the history. People you share it with can leave comments on it, and when they mention the agent in a comment, the agent can reply, change the page, and mark the thread resolved.

What to ask for

Write up the migration plan as an Artifact.

Turn this thread into a report the team can comment on.

Make a dashboard page from these numbers and share it with ana@acme.com.

Make a sign-up sheet for Friday that remembers who signed up.

Name the source material and the audience. "A report" gives the agent nothing to decide the shape with; "a report on the Q3 numbers for the finance team, as a page they can comment on" tells it what goes on the page and who opens the link.

There are three kinds of Artifact: a Markdown document, an HTML page, and a presentation. The agent picks one from what you ask for, and you can name one yourself. See Types.

Who can open it

An Artifact is private to you until you say who can open it. Name the people, the company, or "anyone with the link" in the request, or say it later:

Share the migration plan with ana@acme.com as an editor.

Make the sign-up sheet open to anyone with the link.

The four choices, and what to say for each, are in Sharing.

What happens after you publish

  • Every update is a new version at the same link. See Versions.
  • People who can open the page can leave comments on it, pinned to the thing they are about. Comments are not available on an Artifact that is open to anyone with the link.
  • An Artifact of yours that is open to anyone with the link can carry a price. See Selling.
