Code Mode store and load
OpenClaw v2026.10.1 gives Code Mode a memory that survives restarts
Code Mode starts every cell in a fresh JavaScript context, so values used to vanish between turns. Now the model can store small JSON values and load them back across cells, replies and Gateway restarts.
MCP Apps keep their tools
MCP Apps can call their tools while the view is open
Ten-minute view lease. Calls the model makes still ask.
An MCP App's search box used to ask for approval on every keystroke. Now you can allow that one tool while the App is open, for a ten-minute lease. Calls the model makes still ask.
YouTube in Control UI chats
YouTube videos play inline in Control UI chats
The thumbnail contacts Google before you press Play.
Control UI chats now play YouTube inline. A reply shows a thumbnail card, and the player loads only when you click it. The thumbnail still reaches Google before you press Play.
02: Plugins and memory
Plugins and memory.
Plugin state for every plugin
Local and linked plugins get their own state stores
Privileged capabilities still require trust.
A plugin loaded from a local path or a linked install failed the first time it touched its state store. Every loaded plugin now gets its own stores and queues. Privileged capabilities still require trust.
Memory plugin owns the flush
Your memory plugin now saves the pre-compaction flush
The selected memory plugin saves it with its own tools.
Existing installs are unchanged.
Before compaction, OpenClaw flushes facts to memory, but a plugin that keeps no workspace files had nowhere to put them. Now the selected memory plugin saves them with its own tools. Existing installs are unchanged.
Migrate agents to local Claws
One command turns an existing agent into a local Claw
Credentials, sessions and transcripts stay outside the Claw.
An agent you already configured can now become a local Claw in one step. The migrate command previews the files it will manage, and leaves credentials, sessions and transcripts outside it.
03: Gateway and updates
Gateway and updates.
Windows startup with large plugins
Windows Gateways with large plugins start without multi-minute stalls
On Windows, a Gateway with large plugins could stall for minutes at startup. Plugin captures use the fast copy again, and the model catalog refresh after startup no longer copies every plugin twice.
Sealed immutable generations
Linux installs can update into sealed, immutable generations
A Linux install under systemd can now be adopted as immutable. Each update is built, verified and sealed while the current Gateway keeps serving, then activated with recovery. For now, activation needs root and cgroup version 2.
Update fixes
Stuck updates get unstuck
A dead legacy lease no longer blocks every later update. Recovering an archive no longer leaves the Gateway stopped. And on macOS Monterey, stop, restart and update work again.
04: Models and channels
Models and channels.
Codex, Ollama and llama.cpp
Fixes for Codex, Ollama and llama.cpp
Codex replies keep their last token even when the stream drops it. Ollama tool calls work with Tool Search turned on. And managed llama.cpp memory indexing no longer runs out of memory on small hosts.
Telegram and Discord
Telegram and Discord keep things in order
Telegram photo albums stay together and in order under load. A pending question survives settings commands like verbose and think. And on Discord, long model IDs are selectable.
05: Security
Security.
Security fixes
A missing A2A token now switches the peer off
An A2A peer whose token variable is missing is now switched off, rather than trusting the placeholder text. Private runtime context stays out of replies and saved chats. Commands with NUL bytes are rejected up front.
06: Plugin authors
For plugin authors.
Plugin SDK deprecations
Old plugin SDK aliases are past their removal dates
If you write plugins, a batch of old SDK aliases reached their removal dates. They keep working until published plugins move off them. Synchronous session persistence methods now warn. The Plugin SDK migration guide has the steps.
