OpenAI released GPT-6 Rosalind on October 30th, a model built for complex life sciences research. It joins two earlier Rosalind models, and only organizations that OpenAI has approved can use it.
The change here is specialization. Rosalind's reasoning is tuned for biology, and it uses scientific tools along the way, so it's aimed at the hard, multi-step problems of a research lab.
The Rosalind models combine frontier reasoning with specialized tool orchestration. That covers medicinal chemistry, genomics, and assistance in the wet lab, where the experiments actually run.
GPT-6 Rosalind is the newest of three Rosalind models. GPT-Rosalind Research became generally available on September 8th, and billing for it started on October 5th. GPT-Rosalind Discovery sits on the same list.
Next, what it costs.
At fifteen dollars per million input tokens, GPT-6 Rosalind costs three times GPT-Rosalind Research. It also costs one and a half times GPT-6 Astra. Cached input runs at a tenth of the full price.
Last, who gets access.
Most developers won't be able to call this model. GPT-6 Rosalind is open only to organizations approved for Rosalind Research, through OpenAI's trusted-access program.
Approval also has limits. The model is for an organization's own internal research, and only the users that organization has authorized can work with it.
If your organization already has Rosalind access, it carries forward. Every eligible organization keeps getting the latest Rosalind models as they're released, GPT-6 Rosalind among them.
Outside the API, Rosalind Workbench is a research preview in the ChatGPT app, built on GPT-Rosalind. Its research mode is for verified organization members, and individual access is coming soon.
My pick: if your lab does life sciences research, apply for trusted access and test GPT-6 Rosalind on your own hardest problems. Everyone else should stay with GPT-6 Astra. OpenAI's Help Center has the access program.
