Get a cleared prompt back
Claude Code v2.1.288 brings back a prompt you cleared with Ctrl+C
- How
- press Up on the empty prompt
- What comes back
- the draft, with pasted text and images
Cleared a prompt with Ctrl+C? In Claude Code 2.1.288, press Up on the empty prompt and the draft comes back, including any text and images you pasted into it.
Timeouts keep the turn
>An API timeout in the middle of a response no longer fails the turn
- Non-interactive sessions
- continue from the partial response
- Subagents
- continue from the partial response
- Thinking-only responses
- retried
An API timeout halfway through a response used to fail the whole turn. Now non-interactive sessions and subagents pick up from the partial response, and a response that held only thinking is retried.
Background command time limit
>Background commands in an interactive session now run without a time limit
- No limit
- terminal, desktop app, VS Code
- Limit still applies
- claude -p, Agent SDK, CI, cloud
Background commands no longer hit a time limit in the terminal, the desktop app or VS Code. The limit now applies only to unattended sessions: print mode, the Agent SDK, CI and cloud.
Permission gaps closed
>Three ways a risky command slipped past a prompt now stop and ask
- rm inside bash -c
- asks even in bypassPermissions mode or under a shell allow rule
- Hooks that fail to match
- the tool call is blocked, not run without them
- BASHPID assignment
- prompts when the shell would evaluate it as arithmetic
Three permission gaps are closed. A dangerous rm wrapped in a shell script now asks, even in bypass mode. A hook that fails to match now blocks the call. And a tricky BASHPID assignment prompts first.
Resume fixes
>A resumed session keeps its last reply, its restored files and its earlier thinking
- Last response
- saved, so the next resume shows the prompt answered
- After a compaction
- restored files and context stay in the session
- Sessions from 2.1.286 or earlier
- the model's earlier thinking is kept
Resume got three fixes. A resumed session now saves its last response. Files that a compaction restored stay put. And conversations started on 2.1.286 or earlier keep the model's earlier thinking.
Agents view shortcuts
>Ctrl+F finds a session by name in the agents view
- Ctrl+F
- find a session by name; Enter opens the best match
- Alt+↑ / Alt+↓
- jump between groups
- keybindings.json
- both, and rename, can be rebound
The agents view gets two shortcuts. Ctrl+F finds a session by name, and Enter opens the best match. Alt with the up or down arrow jumps between groups, and you can rebind both.
/code-review findings
>/code-review can now report more or fewer findings than its usual limit
- --max-findings
- a number, or all
- Sticks
- until you set it back to default
/code-review can now report more or fewer findings than its usual limit, up to every finding it has. Your choice carries over to later reviews until you set it back to the default.
