Bindery 1.45 lets you set an author's photo and bio yourself, and they stay that way. It also stops grabbing one part of a multipart audiobook as the whole book.
On the author page, there's now an Upload photo link under the photo, and Bindery stores the image. Edit Author gains a Bio field. Refreshes and Wikidata leave what you set alone. To hand it back, use Remove photo, which fetches the provider's photo straight away, or clear the bio.
Refresh all and scheduled discovery used to put off a missing photo or bio by a day each run. Now they fill it from Wikidata when the author is due. And an Audiobookshelf import that links an author you picked by hand no longer erases a bio or photo you save while it runs.
Bindery imports one grab as one book, and can't join several. So a release named Part 3 of 5 or Disc 2 of 4 is now filtered out of audiobook search. Sets of two, complete sets, ebooks, and series numbers like Book 3 of 12 still pass. As a trade-off, a whole recording posted as Part 1 of 3 or longer is skipped too.
On the Wanted page, the Search button now shows the same Filtered section the book page has. So a release your title, author or language filter dropped can be grabbed from there. And when every release was filtered, the message says so.
A title with an asterisk, like a censored swear word, couldn't be found, because Prowlarr dropped the asterisk and the search matched nothing. Now it's sent as a word break. And if your library holds Rotten School, Punk'd and Skunked as its own book, that volume's release is now rejected for the bare Rotten School entry.
A library scan attached a Dutch Deathly Hallows file to Order of the Phoenix, since the titles share most of their words. Now that file waits unmatched on the Import page. And a series you linked to Hardcover no longer gets a twin from syncs or imports. Existing pairs get logged at startup so you can merge them.
Secondary text and badges now meet WCAG AA contrast in both themes, where most of it was too faint in dark mode. Norwegian Bokmål gets more than 300 strings translated. francisrath did this work, along with the author photo upload.
Bindery now builds with Go 1.26.10. That fixes a standard library vulnerability in crypto/x509, which govulncheck reports as reachable from Bindery's code.
To upgrade, install 1.45 the way you installed Bindery. Once it starts, check the log for series that share one Hardcover id, and merge them. If your indexers post whole audiobooks as Part 1 of 3 or longer, those no longer show up in audiobook search. Then set the author photos and bios you want.
