  1. Would an index fund have done better than your own picks? SuiviBourse 5.2 answers that on a new page, using your own money on your own dates. It also fixes past prices that came out too low.

    SuiviBourse v5.2.0

SuiviBourse 5.2 replays your own money into one to find out.

    The SuiviBourse dashboard
  2. The new Reference page starts from the money you actually put into securities. Every purchase, sale and dividend is replayed on the same day into one index fund, so the money is the same and only the investment differs. Idle cash stays out of both sides, and dividends count on both.

Idle cash stays out Only money put into securities is compared
Dividends count on both sides The funds on the list reinvest their own
  3. You pick the fund from one short list of broad market indexes. Each one shows the year its history starts, so before you click you can see how many of your own years it covers. The first comparison rebuilds the fund's history, kept even though you hold none of it, and the page shows no figure until that's done. Switching back is instant.

    SuiviBourse Reference v5.2.0

The first comparison rebuilds the fund's history. Until it is complete, the page shows no figure. Switching back later is instant.

    Compare with
    MSCI World CW8.PA since 2009
    S&P 500 CSPX.AS since 2010
    Euro Stoxx 50 MSE.PA since 2008
    CAC 40 C40.PA since 2008
MSCI Emerging Markets AEEM.PA since 2010
  4. The page opens on one sentence: how much more, or less, your holdings made than the index, over the same period with the same money. Below that, each account is compared twice. Over the shared period, the rows add up to the headline. Over its own life, a newer account no longer hides an older one's years.

  5. The Ticker field suggests the titles your ledger already names, held or sold, and you can still type any other. For a free share grant, the form suggests a price from the closest close on or before the grant date, and you can clear it. A bracket ceiling now says which currency it's typed in.

  6. Prices were taken net of every dividend paid since, which counted each dividend twice, once in the price and once in your cash. Past values came out too low and returns too high. One PEA showed about 3,400 euros where its statement said about 4,200. And on exchanges east of Greenwich, like Paris, each daily close now lands on the day it traded.

Closes on the right day, too. On exchanges east of Greenwich, such as Paris, each daily close was filed one trading day early.

  7. A ticker typed in lower case, or pasted with a hidden character in it, used to open a second position for the same security. Symbols are now stored in one form, and lines already in your ledger are merged. A symbol with a lookalike letter, like a Cyrillic C in place of a Latin one, is refused on its field.

  8. Some figures used to disagree. Declaring a price for a free share grant broke total value minus net contributed equals gain, and the contribution now counts it. The dashboard head puts total value on the live gain's instant, and charts now work with a screen reader.

  9. To upgrade, pull the image and restart the container. At the first start, part of your stored price history is dropped and fetched again from Yahoo, so the dashboard curve is shorter for a few hours. Symbols merge, and your ledger is untouched. Once the history is back, open the Reference page and see whether an index fund would have done better.
