Kandev 0.98 is a big release. Nearly 60 features and more than 300 fixes landed since 0.97. Two reach almost everyone: you can search your agent conversations, and interrupted sessions come back without resending your prompt.

Press Command or Control K and type a phrase from any conversation. Kandev searches your messages and the assistant's replies across the workspace, and opens the matching session. Older history is indexed in the background, so early searches can miss a few matches. Task mentions in chat bubbles are now links, too.

Right-click an agent tab and choose Restart session. It stops and resumes the same session, keeping its history and workspace. Underneath, a run of fixes targets recovery. Interrupted sessions come back without resending prompts, durable sessions recover after runtime crashes, and model capacity recovery stretches to 30 minutes.

About a third of the fixes are titled preserve something. Many keep what you were editing from being replaced by a refresh or a save, like a rename draft when you switch browser tabs, or a commit draft after a failed commit.

Workflow steps get two new events. One fires when a pull request merges, and the other when it closes. Automations add a durable retry policy and a run history, Linear issue watches can filter by project, and the plugin registry adds Shape Up and Nulab Backlog.

For Codex, the profile editor's start model list now includes the models from the CLI installed on your machine. Fresh OpenCode installs use the managed version two package, while existing version one setups stay put until you migrate. The Codex ACP default is updated for gpt-6.1-sol, and workspace settings can add remote repositories.

Phases 1 through 3.1 of the workspace coordinator ship in this release, still marked in progress and behind a feature flag. Once an administrator enables it, you can turn on autonomy, and the coordinator wakes for events like a stalled task, spending within a ceiling you set per 24 hours. It runs unattended only after four containment checks pass, starting with an isolated executor.

✓An isolated executor: Docker, remote Docker, Sprites or Kubernetes
✓Kandev authentication is on
✓Zero Kandev credentials in the executor or profile environment
✓The agent profile has no extra MCP servers
Three fixes tighten access. Public task shares now redact metadata, manual pull request merges are gated by repository access, and runtime credentials are scoped to the session that launched them. On a shared instance, an executor can now belong to one user, limiting its compute and profiles to that owner and configuration administrators.

Archiving a task now deletes its Kandev-owned worktree with every local change: staged, unstaged, untracked and ignored files. Worktrees an earlier version kept back for local changes get reconsidered after the upgrade, without the old 24-hour delay. So commit and push what you still need first.

Upgrading takes one command. Use the one that matches how you installed: brew upgrade, scoop update, or npm with kandev at latest. One limit: the macOS and Windows desktop installers are unsigned development builds, so your system may block them. That's Kandev 0.98: searchable conversations, and sessions that recover.
