Tapir 1.7.0 is out, and the headline is Archicad 30. The Add-On now ships for six Archicad versions, 25 through 30, on Windows and Mac. The Archicad 30 build uses Graphisoft's release candidate development kit. There's also a command that writes IFC properties, and an installer that handles updates.
SetIFCPropertiesOfElements is new. Tapir could already read IFC properties, and now it can write them. You pass an element, a property set, a property name, an IFC type and a value, and your own property sets work too. For now it works in Archicad 25, 26 and 27. Newer versions return a not-supported error.
The geo-location commands now carry more of the IFC map conversion. That's the cosine and sine of the project's rotation against map east, and the scale. They also expose the survey point's position in project coordinates, so you can move it without changing its map coordinates. Grasshopper's project location components get all six fields.
MEP routes can now name their preference table. Take a table's guid and a row's reference id, and pass them when you create or modify a route. A modify switches every segment to that row without rebuilding the route. MEP System attributes also gain a surface and an insulation surface. Routing needs Archicad 28 or newer.
Now the fixes. On Archicad 25 to 27, texts and labels showed only their first character, and now they get the whole string. ChangeWindow with a story index now really activates that story. SetStories keeps your active story in place while it sets the levels. And the Tapir palette saves downloaded files byte for byte, so images and zips arrive intact.
One change to check before you upgrade. GetDetailsOfElements used to collect floor plan polygons for every element type. Now it collects them only for construction elements the floor plan cuts through, like walls, slabs and stairs. Objects, doors, windows and other GDL-drawn types stop reporting them. That keeps unfamiliar element types away from code that could crash Archicad.
Updating changed too. Check for Updates now runs the Tapir Installer in update mode. It checks the download, asks Archicad to quit, waits while you answer the save prompt, swaps in the new Add-On and starts Archicad again. The installer also fixes a certificate error on macOS, runs natively on Intel and Apple silicon, and finds localized Add-Ons folders.
To upgrade, run the Tapir Installer from the release page, or choose Check for Updates in Archicad. Grasshopper's Tapir package is at 1.7.0 too. Check first if you read floor plan polygons from doors, windows or objects, because 1.7.0 no longer returns them. From now on Tapir releases weekly when there are changes, and this one brings the Add-On to Archicad 30.
