Two letters on the display
The load is sitting there wet. The panel is flashing two letters. Photograph those two letters. Photograph the sticker on the machine. Drop both photos into ChatGPT or Gemini on your phone. The washer already ran a check. Those two letters are the diagnosis. ChatGPT or Gemini reads those letters against the brand’s own first check. Tonight the paper manual can stay in the drawer.
Take two photos
Hold the phone close until the two letters fill the frame. A crooked shot still works. ChatGPT’s own help page says ChatGPT can misread a rotated or unclear picture. Then open the washer door. On a front-load Samsung, the model sticker sits at the bottom of the door opening. The model sticker is the small label with the machine’s name. If the sticker is missing there, look on the back of the cabinet. Keep the front flap closed. Do not start a repair yet. The sticker is how ChatGPT or Gemini picks the right brand table.
Open ChatGPT or Gemini
Open ChatGPT or Gemini, whichever you already have. Photos work on the free side of both. ChatGPT’s help page puts image uploads on Free and paid plans, with plan limits. On ChatGPT in the phone browser, you can attach a picture before you sign in. Gemini asks you to sign in first. A paid Google plan raises Gemini’s limits. The free signed-in Gemini app already accepts a photo. If the app asks you to subscribe, stay on the free path.
Tap plus, then Photos
In ChatGPT, tap the plus on the left of the box. That plus is labelled Add files and more. The menu lists Camera, Photos, and Files. Pick Photos, or pick Camera if you are still at the machine. Attach the display shot. Attach the sticker shot. Two pictures in one message. In Gemini, tap the plus on Ask Gemini. The web menu shows Files, Drive, and Photos. Pick Photos. Gemini’s phone app also offers Camera.
Type this with the two photos
Type this into the same message as the two photos. The letters on the display are the code. Samsung’s UK codes page says five and S look alike on the panel. Three and E look alike too. That is why this card tells ChatGPT or Gemini to read the letters carefully. Ask what the letters mean in plain English. Ask the first thing you should try yourself. Ask when you should stop and call a technician. Finish with the line do not guess a repair I cannot see. Screenshot the card if that is easier than typing.
Wait three minutes, then the drain filter
Do only the first check ChatGPT or Gemini names. On Samsung’s UK page, a 5E or 5C means the washer is not draining. The usual cause is a blocked drain-pump filter, the little trap at the front that catches coins and lint. A bent drain hose can raise the same code. On that UK 5E page, the buttons stay dead for three minutes after the code appears. Unplug the machine first. Samsung Australia puts unplug as step one on its filter page. Put a towel and a shallow dish under the front flap. If 5E comes back after you clean that trap, stop. You now have the words for a technician.
ChatGPT read 5E
Here is the real reply. This is Samsung’s own panel photo, and the exact card. ChatGPT read the display as 5E. Five can look like S on this kind of panel. On Samsung washers, 5E means the washer is not draining water properly. The reply named a clogged filter or a kinked hose. And there is your first check, in plain English.
It asked for the sticker
The reply at the bottom asked for the model sticker. The message in this screenshot had only the panel photo. ChatGPT would not name a panel to open without that sticker. Send the sticker in the same chat. ChatGPT can then name the check that fits that machine. Call for service if 5E comes back after the hose and filter checks. Call if you hear grinding from the drain. Call if you smell burning. Samsung Australia marks its code list as Australian products only.
